Pure water for detailing and valeting

Every mark left on a panel after a wash is something that was dissolved in the water. Hard water dries into the flat, chalky spots that show worst on dark paint, and on a hot panel it can etch into the clear coat if it is left to bake.

A final rinse in zero TDS water removes the problem rather than managing it. There is nothing in the water to leave a deposit, so the car can be left to dry without towelling it off, which is also the step where most swirl marks get put into the paint.

It matters just as much on glass and on polished trim, where water spots are the most visible and the hardest to remove without going back to a machine polish.

For anyone charging properly for a detail, this is the difference between a finish that photographs well and one that has to be re-done because it dried while you were putting the kit away.
